AWARENESS RANCH

WASTE REDUCTION PROGRAM

  • In 2022, COX Communication's "34 by 34: Act to Impact" investment in Awareness Ranch supported a successful startup implementation of a Sonoran Desert composting and waste reduction program.

  • Ranch House Media helped create the composting pilot program and connected three civic events to implement the waste sorting systems (Pueblos del Maíz, HOCO Fest, TENWEST).

  • Over 15,000 people were directly serviced or engaged in person through this waste reduction program and over 1 million viewers were reached digitally through social media posting, paid ads, and publicity from major outlets (as cited below) about this project.

  • Thousands of pounds of waste were diverted from landfills by sorting, recycling, and composting.

  • The program continues to grow and has serviced 2023 events such as Sonoran Cannabis Expo, Agave Heritage Festival, Pueblos del Maíz, & TENWEST.

On Monday, the festival wraps up at the nearby Awareness Ranch, where a small forest of new trees is planted to regenerate the desert land and help offset the event’s emissions. Actions like this alone won’t save us, but they all add up.
